About Michelle Rae

I am an artist, writer, entrepreneur, and lifelong observer of patterns — visual patterns, human patterns and the connections that often appear between seemingly unrelated parts of life.

My path to becoming an artist was anything but direct. At twenty-four, I founded a surety agency that grew across multiple states. I later became a martial artist, earned a fifth-degree black belt and operated my own Taekwondo school. As a teacher and advocate, I helped women recognize their strength and learn to protect themselves. Each chapter taught me something about discipline, courage, resilience and the willingness to begin again.

Art entered my life later, opening an entirely different way to explore what I had always been noticing. I began with painted river rocks and mandala patterns, then moved into layered surfaces, photography, symbolic imagery and work inspired by nature. My art now moves freely between styles because I am more interested in what a piece wants to communicate than in fitting it into one category.

Today, travel has become part of my creative practice. I document landscapes, changing light and the small moments that reveal themselves when I slow down enough to notice. Through my collections, photography and writing, I explore transformation, freedom, connection and what it means to continue creating a life that is fully my own.

That same instinct—to connect ideas and discover new possibilities—led me to create Art That Connects™ and the Connect Art System™. It grew from my belief that artwork does not have to remain fixed. It can change, evolve and invite people into the creative process.

MichelleRae.art is where these parts of my life come together: the art, the journey, the lessons and the stories still unfolding.

Connecting the dots is how I make art.

Connecting the disconnect is why I create.
